Sofukuan is a popular soba restaurant located in the mountains of Aikawa Town. As you
follow the
mountain road, you will be drawn in by the aroma of dashi (a savory broth essential to
Japanese
cuisine), evoking a sense of warmth and nostalgia. Walk along the path where wind chimes gently
sound, leading you into an interior that feels like a beloved family home. Inside, you will be
welcomed by a cozy atmosphere and flavorful dishes that capture the essence of Japanese
tradition.
An Interior that Makes You Feel Like Saying, “I’m Home.”

As you take off your shoes at the Japanese-style entrance and step inside, you will feel a sense
of nostalgia no matter where you sit.
From the window seats, you can enjoy the slow passage of time while looking out at trees and flowers growing naturally in the surrounding landscape.
Why not relax and ease the fatigue of your journey in this peaceful setting?

Ingredients Carefully Selected for Quality

Each ingredient in this tempura set meal has been carefully selected, often sourced
locally, adding a vibrant touch to your dining experience. The soba noodles are
custom-made, with a tender and delicate flavor. Additionally, the oil used for frying is
replaced daily, ensuring each piece of tempura is fresh and elegantly crisp.
Interview with the owner’s brother

Where does the name Sofukuan come from?

The name is derived from the kanji characters 相 (So) from Sogawa-cho
(Sogawa
Town),
where the restaurant is located, and 福 (Fuku) from 安福寺 (Anpuku-ji or Anpuku Temple) across the fields and parking area.
The name embodies the idea of “wishing blessings for each other,”
and we operate with the support of our local community in mind.
*Anpuku-ji: the temple where the owner’s older brother serves as the head priest

What kind of place do you want your
restaurant to
become?

We want Sofukuan to be a space where guests can take their time and
feel
truly at ease.
We hope it continues to be a place that surprises visitors, making them think,
“I can’t believe there’s a place like this here.”
In this calm setting,
we would be delighted if guests could feel a sense of
hometown nostalgia and also learn
a bit about the temple across the way.
