Welcome to Kishiwada’s Calm Oasis!
Kominka Cafe Taisho was created from the owner’s wish for “a place where
the local
community
can gather and feel at home.” The atmosphere, the warm presence of the owner, and the lovingly
prepared dishes—all radiate comfort, making it a beloved spot for many. Why not take a moment to
relax and unwind in this thoughtfully crafted, cozy space?
A Space True to the Past

The cafe has been beautifully renovated from a kominka, or traditional Japanese folk
house,
built in 1922, where the owner was born and raised.
The exterior and traditional tiles preserve their historic charm.
Inside, you will find shoji screens (sliding paper doors), carved transoms, and tables crafted from the original tokonoma wood (an alcove in traditional Japanese rooms used to display art or flower arrangements).
The high ceilings create an open and inviting atmosphere, adding to the sense of spaciousness.

A Hamburger Steak So Tender, You Can Eat it without
Teeth!?

The signature dish at this cafe is an incredibly tender hamburger steak, so soft that
even those without teeth can enjoy it. Offered since opening day, this dish embodies the
owner’s dedication to warm, home-style flavors. It pairs perfectly with rice, making it
hard to put down your fork! Do not miss out on their rotating daily specials, which
include one-plate lunches, taco rice, and stuffed cabbage rolls.

Experience the Okinawan Vibe with Soki Soba!

Here, you can enjoy the famous Okinawan dish, soki soba. The tender,
fall-off-the-bone
spare ribs paired with a light and refreshing broth provide a truly comforting
experience. The small side dishes vary daily, and you may even find a delightful
addition like bitter melon tempura.
