A Harmony of Sweet Flavors♪
Shaved Ice with Delicate Sweet Red Beans
Shaved Ice with Delicate Sweet Red Beans

Cafe Iroha is well-loved for its seasonal menu, and the summer
favorite
is their classic kakigori (shaved ice dessert). The rich, sweet bean paste made
from
soybeans is so delightful it practically melts in your mouth! Paired perfectly with
chewy shiratama (rice flour dumplings) and red bean paste, this refreshing
treat is an
essential pick for hot summer days.

Interview with the manager

Where does the name Iroha come from?

Mr. Kashiba (Owner): After retiring, I decided to open this cafe, and at
first,
I thought about calling it “Cafe Retiree” (laughs).
But then I chose Iroha, inspired both by the iroha momiji (a type of maple tree)
and the old Japanese alphabet poem, Iroha uta.

What are your future plans for Cafe Iroha?

Ms. Ishigouka: We recently hosted a flea market,
and I’d love to promote future events like that to bring in more guests.
Also, we made new, limited-time sweets for guests to take home,
so I hope to plan new events in the future!
