A One-of-a-Kind Museum Dedicated to the Danjiri Festival
Kishiwada is famous for the Danjiri Festival!
A danjiri is a traditional wooden float, or dashi, used in shrine festivals.
During the festival, people pull the floats through the streets, running,
walking, and playing traditional instruments.
The festival is said to have started as a way to pray for a bountiful harvest of the five main
grains in Japan: rice, wheat, beans, millet, and Japanese millet.
As a proud tradition, this festival has been passed down for over 300 years.
At Kishiwada Danjiri Hall, you can experience the timeless connections, vibrant energy, and
passion that keep this festival alive.
Packed with Exhibits and Hands-on Experiences

Kishiwada Danjiri Hall showcases much more than actual danjiri floats!
You will also find miniature replicas, danjiri decorations, and unique happi coats (festival jackets) from each town.
There is even a hands-on area where you can try drumming for yourself.
For an immersive experience, the Danjiri Theater shows festival videos that let you feel the excitement up close!

See the Danjiri Up Close!?

One of the standout exhibits at the facility is the three majestic
danjiri floats, which were
pulled by citizens during the festival for many years. Now, you can see these massive,
powerful floats up close—a truly amazing experience!
Try Your Hand at Drumming!

In the Musical Instrument Experience Area, you can try playing the drums used in the
Danjiri Festival. Interestingly, there are different drumming styles and rhythms to
explore. Check out the nearby demonstration monitor and try imitating the
rhythms to feel like you are part of the festival!?
