The shop offers a variety of wagashi, including Baika Murasame (Japanese-style steamed cake with red beans), Monaka (crispy wafers made from pounded rice filled with red bean paste), Kurumi mochi (rice cake with sweet bean paste), and Wasanbon (refined Japanese sugar), a true delight for any wagashi enthusiast.

Traditional Taste Passed Down through Generations

This iconic Baika Murasame has been enjoyed by the lords of Kishiwada Castle
and
preserved by each successive owner. Made with red beans sourced from Hokkaido, it is
characterized by a soft, crumbly, and tender texture and a mild sweetness, allowing the
rich flavor of red beans to fill each bite. A must-try wagashi to take home
from
Kishiwada.

Western-style Sweets Full of Happiness

The Nama-Choco Daifuku is a treat that even captivated a famous kabuki actor.
Open the
package lid, and a gentle chocolate aroma drifts out, making the wait worth it. Its
smooth, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate goes perfectly with the soft, chewy
daifuku,
leaving you feeling blissful after every bite.

Interview with the manager

What inspires you in running the shop?

Mr. Koyama (7th-generation owner and confectioner): I’m
dedicated to preserving the flavors that have been handed down through the
generations.
Ms. Shibutani (Mr. Koyama’s older sister): Along with traditional Japanese sweets, I’d love to experiment with modern flavors that match the times.

What are your priorities in making wagashi?

Ms. Shibutani: We want to provide our customers with the best-tasting sweets,
so we avoid using additives and are particular about the flavor.
We also carefully select the packaging to ensure it preserves the taste and quality of our wagashi.

We’re working hard to bring back our old favorite, Taiko Manju,
